Mistral recommends some of the most suggestive place on Como Lake not to be missed
Como Lake is a place of interest that gathered visitors from all over the world. Also thanks to Moto Guzzi factory, there are a lots of bikers that every year are attracted to this place. There are countless natural beauty that is possible to visit on two wheels and Mistral thought to recommend some of most suggestive viewpoints.
1 Vezio Castle is on Lecco branch and is located in Perledo district. Overlooked on Varenna, it gives one of the most beautiful view over the two branches of the lake. The thousand-year old castle was a militar fortress that defended the lake, now is possible to visit the castle and his temporary and permanent exhibition. Art, history and culture are melted in this unmissable place, that offers to the visitors a view that check the entire centre of the lake.
2 In the town of Civenna there is a viewpoint that overlook on the eastern branch of the lake. Placed inside Bellavista Park, it offer a view from the mountains to the little villages under them. In the park there is a monument in honor of the bikers, that every year attract countless lovers of the two wheels.
3 The church of Madonna del Ghisallo is placed in the “triangle” situated between the two branches of Como Lake. It’s reachable from Bellano travelling on a nine kilometers rise, that bring you at an altitude of 800 meters. Behind the sanctuary there is the dedicated panoramic viewpoint, that overlook to the lake, and offer a breathtaking views.
4 The Colma of Sormano, also situated inside the Larian Triangle, is a crossing place composed of hairpin turn and different height, that ends at over 1100 meters of altitude. At the end of this hill there is the panoramic terrace and an astronomical observatory. Besides giving an amazing view on the two branches of the lake and on the Grigna group mountains, you can see also part of Brianza.
5 The small district of Brunate arise in the province of Como and is situated above the city, at 700 meters of altitude. The town offers a view con the Como branch of the lake and during the clearest days is possible to glimpse from afar part of Brianza and the city of Milan. To have a better view, you can reach the “Faro Voltiano”, a lighthouse not so far from the city and you can get oh the top of his 30 meters tower to have a view extended to Switzerland.
6 The Belvedere of Pigra is located in the homonymous alpine town, in the province of Como. The viewpoint is reachable after a short excursion on foot and it offers a look to Intelvi Valley, on west, and to the lake and the mountain that ot surround it, on east.
7 The Balcone d’Italia (literally Italy’s Balcony) in placed on Sighignola mountain, in Intelvi Valley, less than an hour far away from Como Lake. Despite his proximity with the Swiss border, it’s located in Italian territory and offer a 360 degrees view on both the country. You can easily reach it from the small town of Lanzo, riding on a hundred-year old street dedicated. Besides the view on Lugano’s lake, is possible to admire some of the most important peaks, including Monte Rosa and Cervino.
