Travel Stories: two wheels, two hearts and an adventure without borders

Magda and Michał’s adventure between freedom, challenges and unforgettable encounters along the way

Travel Stories is the Mistral Special Parts’ section dedicated to the incredible on-the-road stories of our customers. In this new chapter we tell you about the adventure of a couple who made two wheels their means of exploring new horizons. From Europe to the most remote roads, every journey is an opportunity to discover fascinating places, experience unexpected encounters and face the challenges of the road.

Tell us a little about yourself and how you started to travel by motorcycle? How long ago?

We are a Polish couple (Magda, 45; Michał 43). Michał started his motorcycle adventure at the age of 10. We met in 2002 and started traveling together in 2005. Our first “big” trip was around Poland, on an Aprilia Caponord 1000. Our country is beautiful, we have sea, high mountains and… local folklore! This trip made us want more. Since then, during our many short trips we have visited our neighbors in the South. So far we have visited all the countries of the Balkans, and the farthest trip was to Spain and Portugal (3300km one way).

Which bike are you riding today?

A Moto Guzzi V85TT.

Your first motorcycle trip?

In 2005, it was a trip to the Carpathian Mountains, Poland and Czechia.

How do you prepare your bike before a trip? How do you choose the right equipment?

Our Moto Guzzi is always ready for the hardest journey! Years of travelling taught us what we need, and even more important, what we do not need. So the more we travel the fewer things we take.

Can you describe a memorable journey you made? Is there any particular moment that you remember with affection or that left an indelible mark?

One is definitely reaching the Atlantic Ocean on 2 wheels, which was Michał’s dream. Certainly also our accidental visit in an almost abandoned Bulgarian village: Sennik. There we heard the story of two people who survived the sinking of the Titanic. In the same village we met a man who runs a museum and a restaurant named after the famous wrestler Dan Kolov, first European and world freestyle wrestling champion. Zbigniew Cyganiewicz, from Poland (!) was his coach. These two stories impressed us a lot.

Are there things you would like to know before you started travelling? Which piece of advice do you like to share?

You should not believe in stereotypes about the country you go to. Warnings almost stopped us from travelling… Go and check yourself. You will find many helpful and kind people everywhere. When you have possibilities and health, you should never postpone travelling. No matter what bike and equipment you have, the most important is your will and dreams.

What are your next projects or dreams related to motorcycle trips?

This year we are planning to visit Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia, and in September… visit Mandello del Lario! Our project for 2026 is to visit Turkey or North Cape, obviously with our Moto Guzzi V85TT.

Travelling by motorcycle is not only a matter of route, but of emotions experienced, of places discovered and people met along the way. Doing it with your life partner makes everything even more special: every curve becomes a shared memory, every new destination an experience to live together. That’s the real charm of travelling on two wheels – the freedom to explore without borders, immerse yourself in different cultures and create unique connections with those you meet along the way.

We thank Magda and Michał for sharing their adventure with us and for the valuable advice that will be an inspiration to many other bikers. We are looking forward to seeing them again in September and to find out what new paths they have taken to get here! In the meantime you can follow them on Facebook @Wicherki to stay updated on their adventures.
